Faroe Islands

In the north of Eysturoy Island you will find a small and picturesque village called Gjogv, that means gorge in Faroese and that sounds exactly the opposite of how we kept saying it. The village has less that 50 people living there and it’s famous for the 200 meter long gorge that runs north from the sea to the village. We went there to see it and it was more than worth it.

St. Magnus Cathedral started being built more than 700 years ago on the southernmost village on Streymoy. But it was never finished. Today, the building lays not completed, without a roof, suffering through all these years without any protection. But this ruined church still stands today making it the largest medieval building in Faroe Islands.

During our time in the Faroe Islands we tried to see everything we could and one of the places we visited was the Nólsoy Island, located some kilometers away from Tórshavn. Nólsoy is also the name of the village where we spent all of the time we were in the island. And, if you are wondering why did we go to Nólsoy, we can say that it was because of a music festival. A pretty special one called Heima and we are going to tell you everything about the place below.

whale hunting gasadalur On the west side of an island called Vágar is where you are going to find Gásadalur, one of the most beautiful places we ever saw in our lives.
