One of my favorite ways to enjoy the summer in Berlin is taking photo walks with friends. Most of us are into photography, so it’s an awesome way to hang out, explore new city corners, and get creative.
In 2023, I got my hands on the Lomography LC-A+, a cool analog camera. It’s my first camera with control over exposure and ISO, so I knew I had to get out and use it! I loaded it with a Fuji Superia 400 roll to kick things off. This film is amazing for all situations because it’s sharp, has super fine grain (meaning it looks smooth, not grainy), and can handle different lighting conditions.
A Weekend of Shooting in Berlin
My first weekend with the LC-A+ and Fuji Superia 400 was a blast. On Saturday, I headed to a roller skating competition in Treptow. The camera’s fast shutter speed was perfect for capturing my friends flying through the air and grinding on ramps.
Sunday was a chill day, and we walked through Friedrichshain to a concert. Imperial Triumphant was playing Zukunft am Ostkreuz, and I decided to take pictures on our way there.
I loved snapping photos of the huge murals—the “Antifaschistische Aktion” and the rainbow on an East German apartment building were my favorites. But the best shot of the weekend was a colorful portrait of my friend Camila in the rain, standing in front of the Cinema Museum posters.
Falling for Film in Berlin
The photos from that weekend made me a total Lomography LC-A+ fan. It’s now my go-to camera for everyday adventures and travels. If you’re curious about this camera, check out my other article, where I dive into all the details!
