The Reto Ultra Wide & Slim is a small, lightweight plastic camera requiring no batteries. No batteries are needed because this is an effortless camera with nothing remotely technological inside. The Reto camera has a fixed f11 aperture, a single 1/125th of a second shutter speed, and a 2-element focus-free plastic lens. But what caught our attention here was the wide 22mm focal length.

We looked around eBay Kleinanzeigen and found someone with a golden one, and we had to get it. We paid less than €10 for the camera, and the first thing we did once we got home was to clean the text in the front of the camera and remove any sign of what the camera used to be. Now we have a custom Vivitar Panorama, and we love how weird it takes pictures.

Back in September, Fotostrasse was invited by Canon to see everything that was new in the camera world at Photokina in Cologne. As the world’s largest photography trade show, this was heaven for anyone that loves cameras, photo gear and apps. But I came out of the place with a sour taste in my mouth. But it wasn’t the overpriced food in there. I was disappointed how most camera makers I visited and talked to at Photokina weren’t fixing one of the problems I have now. I share this problem with a lot of photographers and the problem is speed.

The Canon EOS M3 is a competent player when it comes to the mirrorless game.
