We were in Mykonos in the summer of 2021, exploring the Aegean sea island while onboard Running on Waves. When we reached Mykonos, we had a small list of places to visit, and the windmills of Mykonos were high on that list. Mainly because we have seen them online and they looked gorgeous and, second, because we visited windmills in Berlin before. This is something that we do whenever we travel somewhere.

Among all of them, our favourite is easily the one with Karl Marx created in 1974 by José Renau, a Spanish artist from Valencia who moved to East Germany escaping persecution in Franco's dictatorship. Moritz Israel sold his shares of the department store to buy the property where the Schloss Schulzendorf can be found. In 1889, the building you can see today started being constructed in a Renaissance style. The most distinguishing feature of the building, its tower, was build during this time and, for us, looks a bit out of place. Somehow, it seems like an old school medieval castle tower, and it doesn't follow the style of the rest of the Schloss.
