Analog Photography in Berlin

Tired of the digital monotony and seeking a more fulfilling photographic experience?

Late in 2023, I discovered a way to use 35mm film on a medium-format camera and was eager to try it out. I asked a friend to 3D print the pieces needed to hold the smaller film in place, and a month ago, I finally took my camera out to test this visual idea.

From Film to Zine

I began creating my analog photography zines when I recognized my desire to showcase my film photos beyond the digital space.

The Vivitar Panorama is a 35mm film camera that became a cult favorite in the 1990s. Known for its unique faux panoramic mode and budget-friendly price, it's perfect for capturing wide-angle shots. In the summer of 2022, I stumbled upon a golden Vivitar Panorama on eBay Kleinanzeigen for less than €10. After reading about it in a few blogs, I knew I had to buy it.

Zaandam was built over its industries, being one of the leading cities in the first industrial revolution. One of its trademarks, the amazing windmills, were a big part of this industrial growth and until this day this is a very industrial city, but that doesn’t mean it loses any of its charms.

Alex Soloviev has a way of capturing life in the streets of Berlin. He shows how Berlin can be loaded with energy at the same time that he shows the tension behind everything that happens here. And, in The Inner Layer, he does this so well that we had to do a short post about his work.

Degersand seems to be the best place to stay and rest. Our stay there felt like a pause in time. Around us there was nature and in front of our small cabin we could see the largest sand beach in the Åland Islands and their famous wood heated sauna.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany, the former Staatsratsgebäude was used as the seat of the Federal Chancellery under Gerhard Schröder. 36 Hours in Neukölln: Berlin Coolest Neighborhood - After lunch, I’d take a walk around the area with a beer in my hand and explore the beauty of the Landwehrkanal that splits Neukölln from Kreuzberg. It’s easy to sit by the water and have some brews while you see the trees, the boats and the people walking by. It’s one of my favorite pastimes during the summer months, and I feel like you should try it as well.
