A Visit to Modulor – A Heaven for Designers in Berlin

Modulor can be easily described as heaven for designers, architects, and DIY fans. This is because Modulor offers more than 30.000 creative products in a space that is way more than a regular crafts shop. Modulor can be considered a pilgrimage place for designers alike in Berlin. And it sure is.

I first heard about Modulor by accident. I still remember the day I was at Betahaus and listening to people talk about a place to buy calligraphy supplies.

This was way back in 2012, and since I had only moved to Berlin, I was lost in the city. Back in São Paulo, I knew where to buy the design materials I wanted. But I had no clue here in Berlin.

From that talk I overheard at Betahaus, I managed to google the name I heard and, to my great surprise, realized that the place I was looking for was nearby. There I went, and I kept going back there almost every month.

Founded by Christoph Struhk more than 25 years ago as a small specialist shop for architectural model building, it quickly became the best shop supplies for any craft project you might have. Today, the shop has over a hundred people at work, offering much more than material for architectural model building.

Where else can you find sheet plastic, sand metal sheets, calligraphy supplies, and design books in the same place? Only at Modulor!

It was only in 2011 that a corner of Moritzplatz was dominated by the vast 3000 m² of Modulor. It is a unique concept store that makes me happy every time I have the pleasure of visiting it.

And I know you will be as comfortable as me when you visit this piece of design heaven in Kreuzberg.
