If you are looking for a place to stay in Hamburg St. Pauli, you don’t need to look any further since I’m here to share my Superbude review with you and tell you about my experience staying there.
This is one of Germany’s most excellent design hostels, and you will not regret spending your time there when you visit Hamburg.
I arrived at Superbude in the middle of the afternoon on my final day in Hamburg. I wanted to explore a different part of the city, and since I loved the area around St. Pauli, I decided to spend the night there.
Design at Superbude Hotel & Hostel in Hamburg St. Pauli
The first things that caught my eye when I entered Superbude were the furniture and colors. From outside, this bricked building looked like any other Hamburg landmark. But, when you step inside, you are entering a different place. There are many colors and wood, and everything feels there for a reason.
From the newspaper stories covering the walls to the marine hooks used to hold the towels in the bathrooms. This place is a goldmine for anyone who loves design, and, as you can imagine from other articles here, I loved everything about it.
I knew I had made the right choice when I entered my room. Inside my room were three beds, two small ones and a large one, where I decided to sleep. The walls are covered in newspaper articles mentioning sights and stories from Hamburg.
I loved the yellow box that can store your bags and have keys to make everything safer. Inside the bathroom, everything was clean, and the shower was as powerful as possible. But the thing that caught my eye was the small bag close to the sink. There, you can find what can be only described as a rescue package featuring tampons and condoms!
If you forgot about it, Superbude didn’t forget about you!
So, I already talked about the bedroom and how fantastic the design of this luxury hostel really is. Let’s talk about the common area and my breakfast there.
Where to eat in Hamburg?
If you want to have burgers in Hamburg, there is a place for you to go. It’s called Otto’s, and I loved everything about the restaurant.
From the craft beers to the onion rings and the fantastic burger I had there.
And what about some beers?
A few blocks away from Superbude is where I found my favorite bar in Hamburg. It’s called Jolly Roger, and it is located across from the St. Pauli stadium! It’s a punk bar filled with cheap beer, and I love the night I spent there with a couple of friends.
What about breakfast at Superbude?
After hanging out in the bars around Superbude, I woke up the next day for breakfast. I tried to choose between a latte, a cappuccino, or an espresso. The breakfast is open from 07:00 to noon, costing €9. It’s a good choice if you don’t feel like exploring the streets of Hamburg on an empty stomach! There were fresh fruits, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, various cereals, and even waffles!
After recharging, you can do what I did, choose between comfy sofas and research where to go. There were also some computers, but I prefer using their free wi-fi on my phone. Or you can try to talk to the staff, which is one of the most helpful things I’ve ever seen!
They even offered me a welcome drink that was shaped like an Astra beer.
How much does it cost?
And all of this doesn’t even cost that much. You won’t spend more than €95 a night in a double room. And, if you need more space for yourself, your friend, or your family, they have options from a three-bedroom to a six-bedroom that will make your trip even better.
So, if you want to explore Hamburg, Superbude might be the place for you!
