Discover Your New Favorite Brew at Muted Horn: Neukölln’s Craft Beer Gem

Muted Horn is one of my favorite craft beer bars in Berlin, and even though it can be found close to where I live, it took me a while to find out about this bar. I imagined it’s because of the unassuming glass and brick facade next to a discount supermarket and a mosque on the busy Flughafenstrasse.

If you walk from Neukölln Arcaden toward Tempelhof, you need to follow the neon glow of the Muted Horn sign. You will find yourself between amazing beers: a little over 20 beers on tap that are always changing and more than 80 bottled beers.

Which can be a little overwhelming, but don’t worry, you’re among friends at the bar.

Berlin’s Muted Horn: Your Gateway to Unforgettable Craft Beer Experiences

Every time I visit the bar, I try something new and fall in love with a new beer. It’s even better when a tap takeover happens! Last summer, I went there and was surprised to see that every beer was something new to me, and they were all fantastic.

Keep an eye on their Facebook page, and you will know when to visit Muted Horn for one of these events.

While researching Muted Horn for a beer-lover friend, I discovered that the bar was founded by Jenia Semenova and Corbin Crnkovic, who moved from Vancouver to Neukölln a few years ago. They felt like Neukölln was the perfect mixture of people and cultures, so the bar needed to be there.

Muted Horn: Berlin’s Craft Beer Paradise with Epic Tap Takeovers

When it comes to craft beer bars, it is easy to think that they all are the same. But I have to disagree when it comes to Muted Horn. Their most valuable asset is diversity, which is why I like this place so much. I’m writing about it here. At the bar, you’ll find more than the usual IPAs around town. This is a place where you can try different beers—even sour beers, which I hate.

Another thing I love about Muted Horn is its food policy. They don’t serve food, but you can bring whatever you want from outside, be that your food or a snack from one of the many great restaurants and diner places around the neighborhood.

Muted Horn is one of my favorite destinations in Neukölln for a relaxed evening with friends. They have great beer, fantastic service, and an excellent range of board games for you to play in German and English.

In the warmer months, you can even sit outside and watch people go by the street while you enjoy beers. Something I believe I do way too much!
