A visit to the BrewDog DogTap in Berlin-Mariendorf

If you are a fan of craft beer like we are, you know your way around the beers brewed by the guys from BrewDog. So, we don’t need to talk much about why we decided to bring some friends with us when we went to the BrewDog DogTap in Berlin-Mariendorf to eat some burgers and have some beers.

The BrewDog DogTap in Berlin-Mariendorf can be found where the Stone Brewery bar used to be, in one of the many buildings in the historical area known as Mariendorf Gasworks. We were there a few times when it was still Stone Brewery, and we quite liked the place. Once we learned that it was changing hands, we were eager to see what we believe is the most massive craft beer bar in Berlin. Maybe, even Germany. Who knows for sure?

As we said before, we first went to the BrewDog DogTap in Berlin-Mariendorf to have some burgers, and we have an article about this. If you want to know more about burgers than beer, that article is the place for you. Here, we’ll be talking about craft beers and the BrewDog bar itself.

Early in 2019, the guys from Stone Brewery sold its location to BrewDog after a few too many problems with the establishment. A few months later, back in August 2019, BrewDog DogTap was opened to the public in Berlin-Mariendorf with taprooms, a beautiful beer garden, and a small adjacent brewery.

If you like craft beer, this is one of the most exciting bars in Berlin. They have way more taps than most places, with almost 40 different types of beers. And you can drink it all in one of the coolest looking places Berlin has to offer. Mariendorf Gasworks is a historical set of industrial buildings in the middle of the neighborhood known as Berlin-Mariendorf. Because of the industrial aspect of it, the buildings are extensive, with high ceilings that date back to 1901.

When the BrewDog DogTap decided to decorate the place, they added stained glass doors and indoor trees that give the area an appealing trippy aesthetic that is great to enjoy some fantastic craft beer and some burgers as well.

At the BrewDog DogTap in Berlin-Mariendorf, there is a mini-golf, some arcade machines, and a beer museum, if you got tired of drinking some of the best craft beer in Berlin. They also have a Beer School for those visitors that want to learn as much as possible about craft beer. There is also a place called DeskDog zone where you can do some work over beers and/or coffee, but we didn’t have a chance to explore this section of the building.

In conclusion, if you are looking for some of the best craft beer you can drink in Berlin, you have to find your way into Mariendorf and drink at BrewDog DogTap. The only problem is that the place is kind of far away from everything as you can see in the map below.

A visit there is not an easy, spontaneous one. It would be best if you had some planning to go there and some knowledge of the trains and subways around Berlin. There are two primary transport hubs close by S-Bahn Attilastraße station and U-Bahn Alt-Mariendorf. Both of them will bring you close to the bar, but you’ll still need to walk for a while.

Maybe, a bike ride is the best way, but you might need to push it back home since driving drunk isn’t the best thing to do.

So, if you want to have great beers and some burgers, go to BrewDog DogTap in Berlin-Mariendorf and enjoy it!

If you are looking for more craft beer bars to try in Berlin, we have an article for you.
