Rüyam is one of many hidden secrets that Berlin keeps at plain sight. I have been in front of this diner kebab imbiss in Schöneberg too many times to count but I finally visited the place in late September 2017, and now I know why so many people consider it to have the best chicken döner in Berlin.

Rüyam can be found on Haupstraße, close to where David Bowie used to live in Berlin, and needs to be visited by more people since its döner is delicious. But most people that visit Berlin will continue to make the mistake of going to Mustafas in Kreuzberg for their döner. Which is a pity since I almost feel sick to my stomach whenever someone tells me about how amazing they thought the döners at Mustafas were.
My take here in simple. The döner at Mustafas is good but, if I have to stay in a queue for more then 30 minutes to eat something, it better changes my life for good. I need angels and some instant piece of mind or else; this is just a tourist trap. But… Back to Rüyam where there are no queues, and the food is excellent.
The Best Chicken Döner in Berlin
Rüyam has been in Schöneberg, in front of what seems to be a parking lot, for as long as it could be. They have two tables inside the imbiss and some beer garden tables outside. I sat out with a couple of friends, and it was more than fine. Inside Rüyam, you are going to have to choose some stuff. Most of them are related to the bread which was quite a surprise to me since most döner places in Berlin only have the classic flatbread or a dürüm option. But Rüyam is different, and this is why I’m writing this review.
I ordered a classic flatbread döner, and it was the best chicken döner I ever had in Berlin. One of my friends ordered a dürüm, and she loved it so much that she took a picture hugging it. This is what makes Rüyam such a great place. They turn döner into art, and after you taste it, you will regret all the former döner choices you made while in Berlin. I still have my favorite place, Imrem in Neukölln, but Rüyam is a clear second for me.
To make it short: Rüyam Gemüse Kebab has the best chicken döner that I ever had in Berlin. You can find them, free of a long queue, on Haupstrasse in Schöneberg. Go there with your friends and show them how good a chicken döner can be.
